Amenities
Pros: Big space for a group with many beds and bathrooms. There were also multiple hangout areas. Parking for several cars.
Cons: The kitchen was not fully stocked (no measuring spoons, cups, oven mitts, and cookie sheets), which made it difficult to cook dinner for 11 people. There was no oven as advertised, so we had to use the microwave to cook dinner one plate at a time. There was only one big skillet and one medium-sized one, so we had to cook all the breakfast components one by one (eggs, French toast, and bacon) and it took 2 hours. The second kitchen was basically for looks. The old-fashioned oven in there didn't even turn on. Additionally, one of the "bedrooms" was not a bedroom, but a living room with a bed in it, which meant no door. There was another "bedroom" that did have doors, but they were glass doors, so it wasn't private. Some of the bathrooms and windows didn't lock. The nightlife around the area was very noisy and wild, so it made it hard to sleep. We enjoyed our stay & it worked out well for our group of 11 adults. The off street parking in the busy ShortNorth neighborhood is a real plus! The location is within walkable distance to restaurants, bars & coffee shops. Supplementing the heating of the original radiators are several electric space heaters.
The AirBnB because of its proximity to High Street does mean that you will hear some of the late night crowd but we did not find that it kept us awake!
This older AirBnB has some interesting architectural features that give you a glimpse of its long history such as its hardwood floors, original bathrooms with classic old tile designs & plumbing features, formerly active wood fireplaces & vintage kitchen cabinets. There's a kitchen that takes you back to the 1920s complete with cabinets, a sink & a stove from that era. Placed about the AirBnB are snapshots, receipts & books from eras past showing the owner's obvious interest in history.
The host was very prompt with messages.
